Who Can Pull A Permit in the County of San Bernardino?

According to the County of San Bernardino Building and Safety, "Only licensed contractors and property owners (Owner/Builder) may be issued building permits. Contractors must have the appropriate classification for the work, such as C36 for plumbing.  Contractors must have knowledge of their craft, be tested, fingerprinted, bonded, and have an FBI background check to be licensed by the Contractors State License Board". Why is this important to you? They insure that new construction or alterations to your property are done accurately and safely. Protect yourself. Protect your family.

Why Change Both Springs on Your Door if Only One is Broken?

If your garage door has more than one spring it is wise to replace them both. Since they break from wear and both springs are the same age, there is a high probability that the other one is extremely fatigued and will break shortly after. If you only replace the broken spring, the new spring will have to work harder to compensate for the fatigued spring.  It will end up having a shorter lifespan then it would if both springs were replaced at the same time. Garage door springs are rated in life cycles. Springs are typically rated for 10,000 cycles. This may seem like a lot, however, if you open your door 5 times per day, that is about 1,825 cycles per year or approximately 5 1/2 years until you will need your next spring change.

If you have a broken spring, or suspect that one is, you can schedule one of our repair technicians by calling 909-866-DOOR (3667), or fill out the contact sheet on our website at: https://www.bearvalleybuilders.com/garage-doors.
